WALES FOR PLANT LOVERS - GARDENS * NURSERIES OF WALES WITH JIMI BLAKE
Fri 7th, Sat 8th & Sun 9th May
Join Jimi Blake for a three day guided tour of famous and hidden gems of gardens and nurseries in North Wales. This tour was conducted with great success last June for members of the Hunting Brook One Year Plantsperson’s Course and is now being offered to members of the general public. This trip provides a unique opportunity to buy rare and unusual plants not commonly available in Ireland.
Day 1:
Guided tour of Plas Cadnant Estate on the Isle of Anglesey. Plas Cadnant is a beautiful early 19th century estate which has been undergoing extensive and sensitive restorations since 1996. Light refreshments will be served following a guided tour by the owner.
Day 2:
Full day at Crug Farm Plants in Caernarfon. Owners and world famous plant hunters Bleddyn and Sue Wynn Jones will give an exclusive guided tour through the gardens normally open to the public as well as their private gardens and behind-the-scenes propagation areas and trial fields for the vast array of plants collected on their frequent plant hunting expeditions.
Bring a picnic lunch and allow space in your car for purchases from Crug’s outstanding selection of plants.
Day 3:
Morning visit to The World of Ferns, a specialist fern nursery near Bangor, at the edge of the Snowdonia Mountains, where there will be a guided tour of the gardens and a fern propagation workshop. If time permits, we will visit Aberconwy Nursery, a speciality alpine nursery.
Afternoon visit to Bodnant Gardens near Conwy where you can enjoy lunch, stroll the famous terraced gardens and take in the views of Snowdonia beyond.
The closing date for bookings is 7th April. If you would like to share a car for this trip please let Jimi know when booking.
