An Introduction to Forest Skills for Adults with John Tyrrell

This exciting day course is for adults who want to learn some camp craft and fun forest skills to take with them into the woods!

Come and learn the basics in a safe and friendly environment.

What we will cover:

  • Fire Fundamentals

  • Camp Cooking / Stove Selection

  • Natural Shelter Building

  • Tarps and Knots

  • Nature Arts and Crafts

The Details:

  • Course runs from 10am - 4pm with a break for lunch.

  • Tea, coffee and snacks provided but please bring a packed lunch or picnic.

  • All tools and equipment provided.

  • Please dress for the outdoors! Base layer, mid layer, warm layer and a full set of waterproofs. Hats and gloves. Warm, waterproof runners or boots.

  • Stumps are provided for sitting on but if you would prefer to bring a camp chair that is ok.

Your Instructor: John Tyrrell

John has been working as an outdoor Instructor and Guide for over 12 years. He has worked for many years on the Blessington lakes and in schools teaching adults and children a wide range of adventure sports on both land and water. A keen bushcrafter he is currently in the process of setting up a Forest School here in Hunting Brook Gardens.

John’s focus within bushcraft is less about extreme survival and more about our connection to nature and having fun in the forest!
